Weight Restrictions on Town Roads
Town of Austerlitz
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Austerlitz has authorized the Town Highway Superintendent to temporarily restrict any vehicle with a gross weight of over five (5) tons from traveling on certain Town roads. Once the Highway Superintendent determines material damage to a Town road may be caused by such vehicles traveling on it due to weight, the Superintendent will post a weight restriction sign on such road. This restriction will take effect upon the posting of a weight restriction sign on a Town road and will remain in effect until the sign is removed.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that such weight restrictions will be enforced and may result in fines or penalties for violations of the posted weight restriction which may include the cost of repairing the damage to the road. Upon written application by any operator of a vehicles subject to this weight restriction, the Town Board of the Town of Austerlitz may issue a permit providing appropriate exemption to such vehicle if the Town Board determines that said vehicle is performing essential local pickup or delivery service and that failure to grant such an exemption permit will create hardship.
