   The Spencertown Fire Company was organized in 1917.  The first vehicle was a hand drawn chemical cart, the tools consisted of a chemical tank, an ax, and
a few lengths of hose.  Today's fire company consists of over forty active members and four fire fighting vehicles.  Each member must attend a sixteen week course in the essentials of fire fighting.  Our fire company was one of the first groups in the county to establish a First Responder Squad.

   The Fire Company was organized in April of 1941 and is governed by Executive Officers; Don Fischer, President, Scott Brown, Vice President, George Traver, Treas., Barbara Fischer, Sec.  The company meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month.   Longtime volunteer: Harold Fischer, 62 years, member of the company when it was founded.
